Originating from the pastry shop in 1961, Zeldenrijk has developed a traditional artisanal croquette that is still made in the same way today. The process of making its own broth from first-quality meat remains the foundation of the Zeldenrijk croquette.
Suppliers website| Origin story | In 1959, Freek Zeldenrijk and his brother-in-law started a pastry shop in Loosdrecht. To stay competitive with the emerging large bread factories, Freek Zeldenrijk expanded his range in 1959 to include croquettes and supplied them under the name "Loosdrechts Croquettenhuis," also providing to the navy. The snack was a success. After three years, a lunchroom was even added to the business where the snack and fresh sandwiches could be enjoyed. This proved to be the first step of a drastic change; in 1964, Freek Zeldenrijk transformed his pastry shop into a snack bar. |
