On the edge of the most beautiful nature reserve in the Netherlands, the Weerribben National Park, lies the dairy farm of the De Lange family. To be precise, in ‘Little Netherlands’, over the bridge, past the stork’s nest and then straight ahead… Reed fields, grasslands and water, with alternating trees in between. Weerribben Dairy has chosen to adapt the company to the environment: extensive, organic livestock farming, with a small artisanal dairy factory next to it.

Origin story Klaas de Lange, owner of Weerribben Zuivel: “For most of the year, our cows are outside in a rich meadow full of flowers and herbs. In the colder months, when the land is too wet and there is too little grass on the land for the cows, they stay in a large barn. During construction, we paid a lot of attention to 'cow comfort' and animal friendliness. For example, the cows can decide for themselves when they want to be milked.”

Animal protection Weerribben Zuivel's organic milk is now extra good for farmland birds! As of 2017, Weerribben Zuivel's organic milk meets strict criteria for farmland birds drawn up by the Dutch Bird Protection Society.
Packaging The new packaging (cardboard and cap) is fully renewable and based on products from the forestry industry, which is FSC-certified. No fossil raw materials are used. Raw materials and production processes are climate neutral. This has resulted in a total saving of over 30% in CO2 emissions. The packaging can be disposed of with PMD waste and is fully recyclable. With this new packaging, Weerribben Zuivel is making the dairy section in the organic specialty store much more sustainable.
